Kabuki Theatre Mask
Kabuki is a traditional form of Japanese theatre. The acting is highly exaggerated with loud voices and over the top movements. The masks display an exaggeration of an emotion, e.g. Sadness, anger, happiness. The actors have stage names and their real names are only known by friends and family.
My Practical
My design was inspired from a traditional kabuki mask. I used acrylic paint on a handmade mask base then sprayed it with gloss. The colours are vibrant and the mask's expression is strong.
Egyptian Anubis Mask
Ancient Egypt used two kinds of masks, death masks and ritual masks. One of the ritual masks was the mask of Anubis. Anubis is the ancient god who is the guardian and protector of the dead and was worshiped throughout Egypt. Masks of Anubis were worn by priests during funeral rituals. The tradition dates back to over 2000 years ago.
